First wind turbine at Bellevue in Western Australia is now operational

First wind turbine at Bellevue

A major milestone has been reached in Western Australia’s Bellevue Gold Project which aims to deliver a 90 MW hybrid power solution.

The first four of the Goldwind GW165/6.0MW turbines at the site has been fully commissioned and is now generating renewable energy.

The Bellevue Gold Project is a large-scale gold mining operation in Western Australia, aiming to lead the sector in decarbonisation.

The project includes a hybrid power station that integrates renewable energy sources alongside traditional thermal generation to achieve significant reductions in carbon emissions.

Developed by Zenith Energy under a 15-year power purchase agreement, the off-grid system integrates wind, solar, thermal generation, and battery storage.

The system will enable up to 80 per cent renewable energy across the year and the ability to operate in ‘engine-off’ mode when conditions allow.

Zenith Energy is one of Australia’s leading independent power producers (IPP’s), specialising in tailored off grid hybrid power generation solutions.

Bellevue Gold is an Australian gold exploration and development company focused on advancing the Bellevue Gold Project in Western Australia.

This milestone supports Bellevue Gold’s vision to become Australia’s first net zero (Scope 1 and 2) emission gold mine, powered by one of the country’s most advanced hybrid energy systems.
